Do Not Disturb – Curating in Progress, MA Photography, ECAL, Switzerland

Since 2016 I teach the course Do Not Disturb – Curating in Progress, which I also designed, on the invitation of Milo Keller, head of Photography at ECAL, Lausanne, Switzerland.

The course Do Not Disturb – Curating in Progress is designed to give students a sneak peak into the craft of curating a (extended) photopgraphy exhibition from the perspective of an independent curator (formerly at Foam in Amsterdam 2011-2021. The course teaches to engage with the historical, theoretical, and practical matters of curating a photography exhibition, with issues regarding the desperate desire of mankind to display objects, the photography exhibition in the digital age, the blending of photography with other disciplines in a physical space and photography as a critical voice.

Keywords: curating, history of exhibiting photography, display, landmark exhibitions, alternative landmark exhibitions. curatorial practice, exhibition proposal.
