When was the last time you felt really moved after seeing an image that expressed pain? Does a shocking picture still have the power to leave an impression when it is the umpteenth you encounter? For the programme
Foam Farm, Foam invited five talented artists to reflect on the value of images
in present-day society. The five participants of this experimental think-thank worked on the question: “What is the meaning, value and social relevance of images in our present-day society, or what could it be?”. The participants were challenged to work together by connecting their expertise’s, to exchange experiences, and to inspire each other. The discussions resulted in valuable insights that form the theme of the presentation. Foam Farm analyses the impact the imagery of suffering can still have on the disposition of the viewer, in an age where the same images are being used for commercial purposes.
